FSC 1520: Aircraft, Rotary Wing
Federal Supply Class (FSC) 1520 covers complete rotary-wing aircraft, meaning helicopters and tiltrotor platforms operated by the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard. Each airframe is assigned an NSN for asset tracking, fleet management, and DLA-supported lifecycle sustainment.
Rotary-wing aircraft perform troop and cargo transport, attack and close air support, medical evacuation, search and rescue, reconnaissance, and special operations missions. Their vertical takeoff capability lets them operate from ships, forward bases, and unprepared sites where fixed-wing aircraft cannot.
Representative platforms include the UH-60 Black Hawk, CH-47 Chinook, AH-64 Apache, AH-1 Cobra and Viper, UH-1 Huey, and CH-53 series. Variants are built to MIL-SPEC and airworthiness requirements for utility, attack, heavy-lift, and maritime roles.
